Sustainable Design Consulting, LLC (SDC) helps developers, architects and builders create more environmentally sensitive structures and settings. Headquartered in Richmond, Virginia and with a DC-area office in Silver Spring, Maryland, SDC provides expert project-specific and general consulting on planning, site design, water, energy, materials and indoor environmental quality issues for sustainable design and operations. SDC also provides lectures, workshops and training on a wide range of green building topics. Senior Associate - DC Office

Description:

Provide management and project team leadership in SDC’s branch office in the Washington, DC area overseeing administration, H. R. management, green building project and training management, and coordination of office-specific fiscal reporting activities. Develop improvements to existing and new consulting services. Participate in company strategic planning and long term growth plans.

Requirements:

Must be degreed in and have a minimum of 20 years experience in the building industry to provide staff management and project team leadership in green building / LEED® consulting projects. Masters preferred in program related to the building industry such as Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, Construction Management or Facilities Management. Candidate should have a minimum of 10 years experience specific to project management in a related field with substantial staff supervisory and senior level management experience. LEED professional accreditation required. Experience in a consulting firm setting a plus.

Skills:

• Experience providing leadership and developing all areas of the operation of an organization/branch office

• Ability to develop and retain a professional consulting team

• Ability to prioritize project tasks as needed to maintain continued progression of projects

• Proficiency in green building general concepts, the LEED Rating System and the commercial green building industry

• Proficiency in navigating architectural and engineering drawings and specifications

• Familiarity with the USGBC website and LEED-Online

• Familiarity with interaction between LEED and different building types and familiar with USGBC credit interpretation requests

• Proficiency in design and construction sequencing, and experience in all phases of project delivery

• Exceptional building-related technical skills a plus

• High level of multiple types of intelligence

• Exceptional command of information ranging from the day-to-day details to the big picture

• Focused on all aspects of branch office success

• Flexibility to move swiftly between job functions

• Outstanding communication skills

• Comfortable with public speaking; able to appropriately represent office and company

• Familiar with principles of marketing to further SDC’s presence in the marketplace

• Ability to oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the office
