A. Bambi Tran, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP

A. Bambi Tran has over 10 years of experience in the green building industry. She has a degree in Architecture from the University of Virginia, and in her career has worked as a green builder, designer, and consultant to a number of organizations--such as U.S. Navy, Habitat for Humanity affiliates, U.S. General Services Administration, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and Manna, Inc. (one the largest non-profit housing developers in Washington, DC). Currently, she provides green and LEEDŽ technical assistance and project management for SDC projects. Bambi specializes in green residential developments and mixed-use, planned developments using a whole building approach. For various clients around the country, she conducts green planning and building workshops, reviews design drawings, improves site and building design specifications, researches and evaluates green materials and systems, develops processes for project execution, and trains contractors on green construction techniques.  

Previously, Bambi has been recognized for her pivotal role in the development of the Whole Building Design Guide (WBDG) website at www.wbdg.org, which is the renowned source for building-related information from an integrated design perspective. Bambi has conducted onsite trainings and developed on-line trainings, as well as written guidelines on sustainable design and development topics, including balancing security and sustainability requirements.

Having been a green builder, Bambi is intimately familiar with the challenges and opportunities for building low-impact, resource and energy efficient structures using environmental-friendly materials. Through her post-disaster work in New Orleans and southern Thailand, Bambi is also interested in creating sustainable, vibrant, disaster-resistant communities.
